Open Letter to a Good Liberal To me, it sounds like, once again, the road to hell is paved with what sounds like good intentions - and with a disregard for facts. To be for human rights means you actually need to face facts. Good intentions are not enough. A hope: that you look into this, that you explore more, like the facts of Morsi's increasing human rights abuses, and of Sisi's much better (though still far from adequate) human rights record. By the way, do you know that the only country in the Middle East with religious freedom is Israel? Do you know that Muslims may freely practice their religion there? Do you know Israel is also the only Middle Eastern country with a growing Christian population - and where Christians are treated as equals? Male female equality. Gay rights. In the Middle East, you'll only find it in Israel.
I mention 2 videos. You haven't heard of them: Not Evil, Just Wrong - very enlightening re what is wrong in the Al Gore film. Then FrackNation - which is brilliant at tearing apart what is presented in the popular GasLand. Every honest anti-fracking person needs to see it. You give the quick standard response to my bringing up FrackNation: it must be funded by big oil money to silence the truth. The opposite is the truth, to the best of my knowledge: I've read that money from Saudi Arabia and Columbia (oil-producing countries with vested anti-fracking interests) went into GasLand. And FrackNation was crowdfunded. A hope: that those who consider themselves good liberals will seek out better sources of information. Lots and lots is available. For me, this is so vital - or we may put our energy on the side of destructive forces, instead of good. As the old saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intention. Please, check out which road you're on.
And then a bit of time slipped by, and I came to more thoughts. It's so easy to say: the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I also see a blindness to facts - and instead adherence to politically correct positions. Why? I think most people are a bit lazy, and it's easier not to check up on things. Group-think is something else powerful for many people - it's much easier not to check on the group's accepted truths. On some level, cowardice can also play a role: it can be unpleasant to go against the group, and scary to stand up against Islam.
