OPEN LETTER to all members
of NEW ZEALAND PARLIAMENT.
Muslim demand: Change rugby team name.
No Crusader team.
Needed: history lesson on Crusades and Islam.

Dear Member of Parliament,

I've read the headline:
New Zealand: Muslim leader demands that Crusaders rugby team change its name

This is yet another reason to BE INFORMED about Islam and Islamic history.

Becoming informed is essential to be able to respond appropriately to inappropriate demands.

Several centuries before the Crusades, horrific brutal Islamic invasions turned much of the Middle East from Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, etc to Islamic, and also turned the north of Africa from Christian and Jewish to overwhelmingly Islamic. The Islamic invasion of Jerusalem led to desperate Christian leaders pleading, for several centuries, for help from Europe. The Crusades were a belated response to protect Christians.

In other words, the Christians were being invaded and begged for help from fellow Christians. It took the Christians from Europe several centuries to provide help. These were the Crusades.

Is the Islamic leader, Guled Mire, suggesting that non-Islamics have no right to defend ourselves against Islamic invasion, including mass rape and murder?

I hold we all have the right to protect ourselves. Women are encouraged to take self-defense classes to be able to protect ourselves from attack. We’re encouraged to LEARN to protect ourselves, to EDUCATE OURSELVES to be able to protect ourselves.

We likewise need to learn to protect ourselves from inappropriate destructive demands like those of Guled Mire.

The only way we can do this is by educating ourselves, by learning the truth (quite unsavory) of Islamic history.

I recommend you not only watch, but if possible, air the videos on New Zealand television stations, and have discussions of the content on NZ stations, so New Zealanders become adequately informed about Islamic history. Otherwise they are likely to be taken in by inappropriate demands.
